#1 Music of my android phone

Post by Daniel Quinn »

Does anybody know of a way I can use my android phone and Amazon music with my hifi .

I was thinking of wireless transmission from my phone to my passive pre amp . Is this possible ?

Rather depends on how much you care about what it sounds like. At its simplest, one of these would do the job.

The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

I asked a similarish question a while ago, though I wanted to maximise sound quality through a DAC. I'm nearly there but have been playing with phono stages a lot over the last six months.

I already had a cheap converter to turn the USB C into audio, something like this:

They're intended for use with wired headphones but I use it with a 3.5mm stereo to RCA phono and it works just fine. But I'm listening to a tiny DAC that costs pennies no doubt. Which is why I investigated a I2SoverUSB into DAC solution. I can still plug my phone in, or use a computer.

Try the £8 solution, not much of a risk and it might be good enough. It's not wireless though. Bluetooth 5 might be good enough, dunno haven't tried it.

If it's just for finding new music before getting it on vinyl, (assuming you can of course), you could just get a cheap Bluetooth DAC, like this -;

I've got one and it works seamlessly with my Android phone and sounds reasonable - better than you might expect for 20 quid. You'll need a simple power supply and a box but it is very small so it should be easy enough to implement.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

One of these works well, and has the relevant cables too

Apple airplay is lossless and can be used with Android. Something like this can give analogue or digital outputs

Chromecast audio is another option, but I think the receiver is discontinued. Available on ebay though

This handles the streaming directly but don’t know if it works with Amazon Music - you would have to check. No digital output, but the reviews are good

The 3.5mm socket on Chromecast Audio doubles as an optical digital output.
