#1 Smart Phones.

Post by pre65 »

I do have a mobile phone, and it has it's uses, like being used for security on internet banking, PayPal and credit/debit card transactions.

However, I think it might be time to consider a smartphone.

Can anyone recommend a smartphone suitable for "old gits" ?

I'd like a reasonable camera and a big, but not huge, screen for clarity and ease of use.

Also, I'm not looking to spend £1K, or however much fancy smartphones cost.

Why is it time Phil? What are you needing one for, genuine question…

There are phones like the Doro which are specifically aimed at….lets just say those advancing in years! Easy to use, big icons, big buttons etc.

or there are ‘normal’ smartphones that can be customised to reduce on screen clutter and increase icon and font size etc.

good guide here

My personal choice would be an iPhone SE, doesn’t have to be the latest 2022 version, they are cheap enough refurbished and are fully customisable.

I have used Samsung in the past but Google Pixels for the last 5 years or so.

They are all the same these days , the technology is everywhere.

I use cubot . Chinese , very good and cheap .

Then all I have to get is a SIM .

Thanks for the info, unfortunately my MOD contract does not allow me to use Chinese phones.

Thanks Neal and Nick, I've narrowed my search to two used items, Google Pixel 6A and Galaxy A33.

I'm sure there are very many suitable alternatives, but I don't want to spend any more time on searching.

If you own any Apple gear like a MacBook you could buy an older Iphone like the SE. I have the Mk1. It's fast and has a good camera. Probably unavailable now - there is a mk 2 and 3 I believe. I like a phone small enough to fit in my pocket.
