Lost count how many flooded roads I'd driven through. An hour just trying to get out of Lincolnshire. I did a big loop ended up going through coningsby , which is only 5 miles from home, where I started from!

Wot! Piccies of flooded Lincolnshire- dreary too dreary. But pics of amplifiers, that's something else...

I've just arrived home, under 4hrs back including a fuel stop - not bad.

It was good to meet friends again for a good natter.

I feel a bit more motivated to roll up my sleeves and get some projects moving.

If anyone is interested in my chip amp, there's a thread here https://www.audio-talk.co.uk/phpBB3/vie ... php?t=8324

and the buffered passive preamp, with Muses volume and vintage BUF-03 devices, is here https://www.audio-talk.co.uk/phpBB3/vi ... 10#p185510 I use this at home as I don't need any gain for reasonable listening at my desk but the Noir, with its 9dB gain, was necesary in the Owston room.

I plan to replace the Ariston speakers wth some full-rangers made up with the Acacia wood salad bowls I bought at the Wilko's closure sale.

Good news and bad news.

The good news was that this was another inspirational and pleasant DIY audio themed day out.

The bad news is that Steve is not expecting to organise an Owston 2024. Which is a reminder that events like this only happen because of the enthusiasm and leadership of the people that organise them.
It's also a reminder of the perspective that hi-fi as a hobby should have. It's something to enjoy, but there are other things in life that are more important and should take a higher priority.

What a fantastic day out! Those who know me know I am not one for dramatics LOL

Lindsay all is not lost as I will pester Steve until he gives in for next May 2024. :D

I will be organizing a gathering at my shop in the interim period date TBA.

Hello chasps. Got home about 1 pm, so 2.5 hours -ish? Just been putting the system back together, turning it on, making tea, and answering emails. A1 was/is closed between Doncaster and newark so I went via M180 then down A15 to Lincoln and beyond, which was a good choice and utterly faultless. Bottom end of A15 north of Sleaford still closed (near where it crosses A17), but I could divert eastwards to Billinghay then I used minor road North Forty Foot Bank (which I know quite well – and which just BTW is also part of cycle route #1) to Langrick Bridge (crosses River Witham), then it's just a short hop home from there. Lots of flooded fields and the waterways and ditches are high. River Witham is very high, Maud Foster Drain (outside my bungalow) is looking a couple of feet more than normal. Crossing the Kyme Eau tributary bridge at Chapel Hill (onNorth Forty Foot Bank), the canal boats were nearly up to road height!

Very glad to make the do this time (missed last time), I agree with Dave MCRU must make a 2024 date somehow.

Fabuloso! :thumbright:
