Thanks .

Isn't it about time you updated the forum software 🤣

Ps. I fully appreciate the reasons for not doing , no need to defend the decision. I doubt you ever made anything but a fully informed decision Nick

Personally some of my most memorable decisions have made in a alcoholic haze.

For instance my then girlfriend 16 years my junior persuaded me at 45 years of age to have a child with her whilst I had many beers. ( She is now my wife )

Luther maybe only 8 but he is far and away the best decision I ever made .

Another magnificent decision

Its only one minor release version out of date, and the change from 3.3.8 and 3.3.7 doesn't include any change related to posting links to images on other sites that go out of their way to make it hard to embed pictures.

Generally, forums are not the thing now, not entirely what the modern equivalent is but I am happy being a dinosaur (which is understandable on a audio forum that talks about using valves and other old stuff).

I defended it anyway. But I make loads of off the cuff decisions, some work out, many don't, but its sometimes fun finding out which it will be.

It's not a forum code problem, it's Google not wanting you to copy or link pictures they host. Tinkering with forum code won't change that.

But I tried more than one host . Tumblr didn't work , but that could be because Google was influencing .

The only reliable hosting site ive found is flickr. The app lets you upload you pics from the phone onto the site. Problem with it is that if you want to use the bb code to embed the image you have to go on the computer because the phone app doesnt give the option to copy the bb code url. So it is a bit of a pain but it does work reliably for me. Just have to get the laptop out

I'm struggling here...

if you upload photos from your source to one of the host systems then why can't you upload the same original photo to here....

I'm sure I'm missing something....

did my original suggestion list not work?

Most picture hosting sites will go out of their way to make imbedding the picture hard as it gains them no advertising revenue.

Is it a case of 'image too big'? (re file size)

Lots of people still struggle to resize photos.

Gimp 2 ...
256KB is a bit small if you want to show detail but I quite understand where Nick is on this, with the forum hosting.
I find imgbb super-quick and easy to use when you want to show a bigger photo.

Try Imgur, it's free (if you can ignore ads), easy to use and no problem getting BB codes (or others)...
