Good move. Crucial has some software (Acronis?) which can be used to clone drives. Follow the steps and you'll be fine.

FWIW I took the opportunity to rebuild starting with a fresh install of Windows. Make sure you've got the key! It did tidy things up nicely but it's an involved option.

It should be here Saturday, and looking forward to getting it installed.

I've just had an order update from Ebuyer. Seems that a Yodel trailer caught fire and my order may have been affected.

Are they saying that your SSD is trailer trash?

As is there wont, Yodel are silent on the whereabouts of the item.

E buyer seem more on the ball, but I have not heard anything since they gave me the information about the trailer fire..

But, It's not desperate, one way or another it will get to me. :)

I havent had windows for years, does it still take all day to update itself multiple times?

In general, one biggish update per month.

It's not too bad, but I've a pretty good idea when it's downloading an upgrade as the laptop runs slowly. That's probably a reflection on the age of the laptop really.

One thing might be a problem ?

My current hard drive is 1TB (currently 865Gb free) and the new SSD will be 500Gb.

I have heard that it could "confuse" drive cloning software ?

I reckon you'll spend more time figuring out how to clone than doing a fresh install coz the ssd is so fast.

I'm not very pleased with Ebuyer at the moment. :x

No news on the SSD that should have been delivered a week ago. They did ask me if I wanted a replacement, or a refund, I opted for replacement, but still no news on when the replacement would get to me.

Update. Ebuyer has now promised delivery Saturday (tomorrow) and refunded my delivery charge.

Good news.

The cloning process is underway, might be a few hours before finishing.

At least I have got a few spare computers to use.

All went well, and it's all up and running. :)

In fact, it was pretty fast with the old hard drive, but it is faster now.
