Thanks Phil, looking forward to catching up

Daniel, I'm just round the corner on the docks - across from MacDonalds

Before I got married (10 years) I used to live on the docks in Victoria mansions in the old banana factory . I used to love living there . Concrete everything , my bedroom and then a car park below me and such a big living room .

Although it was the dissatisfaction with my new room that got me in to a diy. So swings and roundabouts .

(Description of my apartment was hifi based, it had other attractions)

We live in West wing, so we could have been neighbours
Big rooms and a nice view are why we like it
Not ideal from a hifi point of view as we have 8 neighbours - middle floor - so can't have it too loud

Me too, I love the way it effortlessly slips in between September and November.

That is where we usually stay.

Best to order the breakfast as well. :)

Hmm, you might need to look elsewhere. I called them yesterday and there were no single rooms left. Only family rooms and executive suites starting at £115 per night. Breakfast is expensively extra. Looking at their website, the hotel is fully booked every weekend up until the end of September and it appears October is going that way. Probably the golfing weekend break is taking off leaving little for the likes of us.

Oh dear.

Some years ago I booked a family room to share with Andrew I, but they cocked it up and we were expected to share a double bed.

In the end they found us separate rooms at no extra charge.

There is also the Travelodge on the A1 but it's a long walk.

Their price has become stupidly expensive anyway for a three star hotel with all its extra facilities currently shut down. It’s only the golf which keeps them alive. Single room with breakfast is about £120 a night. A Premier Inn room in Doncaster is £53 plus breakfast. Unfortunately, Owston venue is so isolated without the convenience of the hotel nearby. Will properly spoil the Friday night of culture
