Does anyone here have any experience playing with different capacitors and resistors that they can share before I do something blind?

Yes, took mine to Mark's and got them measured. Which tweeters do you have?

I have Gemini tweeters and Crystal main drivers with open baffle Selenium Neo 15” bass drivers.

There was a gap in the response when we measured with the supplied cap on the tweeter (1uf?) which was changed to 2.5uf, which evened up the response nicely. Not in front of mine, but from memory there is a resistor across the 12" and one in line with the tweeter. I swapped these for Pathaudio from Hificollective, probably overkill but YMMV. I didn't have any 2.5uf but I do have a good collection of nice film caps so I just paralleled some up to get the right value.

Take it you run the bass actively?

Thanks Ali that’s interesting and helpful.

I hadn’t looked at the Pathaudio resistors before and had been considering Duelund CAST or Lefson.

I have a spare set of slightly higher value Bastanis caps for the tweeter so I could just double up with the originals and give it a try. I was also thinking eventually of adding a Duelund JDM copper 0.01uf bypass cap.

Yes, I run the bass active with a XTZ dsp sub amp. Unfortunately my XTZ measuring kit is now useless as they haven’t updated the software to run on the latest Windows and my old legacy laptop with the old software on it is kaput.

It really made an improvement imo. Another thing to watch is that both amps have the same outputs- ie one is not inverted with respect to the other. Been caught out with that, speakers just didn't sound quite right and I couldn't figure out why until Mark did the measurements.

I messed about with a variety of caps, but I do like how the Miflex sound, kept those in preference to others.

That’s great Ali, thanks.

One last question, what value resistor do you use across the wideband driver? I have a 12 ohm but I read in a review that Robert Bastanis recommends a 15 ohm with the Crystal units. I haven’t been able to verify that anywhere.

Just checked and mine are 15ohm Paul.

Thanks Ali, I’ll give that a try.

No worries. 18 ohm on the tweeter BTW.

Oh that’s interesting. I just have a 1.0uf capacitor on the tweeter and no resistor. That’s the standard layout according to all the details I’ve seen. Is the resistor something you’ve added through testing/measurements?

No that's how mine came. Don't know if that's standard or not. I'll ask Vic.
