If this is of interest to you you will know, if not you won't care.

Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.

Great video.

On my "Shelf of Shame", I have my original copy (1st edition, 8th print run) of K&R "The C Programming Language" that I bought in early 1978...

Got a copy of K&P "The Elements of Programming style" (2nd edition) on the shelf too, plus a lot of other stuff I also never read now!

Long, but about the development of the transistor. I didn't know that in the beginning he was trying to make a field effect device!

We had to use. “Logarithmic and Other Tables For Schools” - F Castle.

In the ‘60s, when he was club secretary of the Mexborough & District Homing Society pigeon racing club, my dad used a slide rule to work out the velocities of the pigeons in yards per minute to 3 decimal places. He then ‘upgraded’ to an Otis King helical slide rule. https://www.svpal.org/~dickel/OK/OtisKing.html. This did all the yards over minutes and seconds long division required.
Finally, in 1974, he bought a Decimo “Vatman” electronic calculator which reduced the time he spent on a Sunday morning working out the race, from 2 hours, to 35 mins. When I got my first Mac LCII I used to word process the results for him. Of course, pigeon racing results are all computerised now and sadly, the Mexborough & District Homing Society no longer exists.

I wonder...would it occur to Wes Andersen to do a spoof? I'd watch it anyway. However I'm looking forward to his latest film - excited trousers, I think, is a suitable expression.
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.
