I really miss mine: E802 DRS, SORNed a good few years back with terminal rust... There were 5000 made, only 500 LHD like mine which were the original homologation series requirement. Top Gear's "Car of the Decade".

Mine was one of the first RHD Audi Quattro's, the proper one with the arches and 5 cyl turbo engine.

I got made redundant two weeks after I purchased it so it had to be sold.

Same colour as this one.

One of the original 500 in good condition is £100k+. It's a shame that subsequent owners of mine left it to rot... It was immaculate when I sold it in around '93.

Not so exalted as these two but I had an e30 320i for a while about 20 years ago which I loved dearly. It didn’t do much in the way of performance but what it did do, it did beautifully. The one thing it had that the M3 didn’t was that gorgeous straight-six howl.

One of only three cars I ever managed to spin. The others were an Austin A55 van and a DAF 33. Nothing like a bit of variety.

I did very much like the 6 in my 325iS. I know the M3 was better weight-balanced of course.
100k on a first series M3 does sound a bit mad, Jack. There's a pretty long list of very nice alternatives you could buy for that money.

Meanwhile, I'm being fed a lot of Robert Crumb on Youtube at the moment, it's been a pleasure, always fascinating.

as an aside, vacuum bagging is also how we make the more modern composite model glider wings...veeery messy business for a half wit like me.

Nice video, the basic technique is what I have considered using for curved speaker cabinets with flexible ply.

He would be better off using vacuum bags though as he would be able to reuse them.

Ed, I've used the glider wing technique on model yacht parts - need to be careful with the vacuum level so as not to crush the cores - guess how i know! In terms of the mess, next spring I plan to lay-up a model yacht hull using vacuum infusion, which I hope will give a better moulding with a lot less mess.

He could have made the work on the outer shell of the bass section so much easier with vacuum bagging - you just make the first layer of the shell oversize and vacuum bag down onto it.

His conclusions about how having the HF unit behind the midrange - in a diffused mode is quite interesting, maybe it's using the rear of the MF cabinet as a diffuser.
