#1 Loftin Shushido 2a3

Post by andrew Ivimey »

Anyone remember the 2a3 Loftin White that wasn't really a Lofton White. So let's call it Shushido!

Just one thing I've been doing all these past few weeks was finding all the bits, dusting down the original chassis ( that was from a Hongker amp) , cleaning out 'the shed' and in about half an hour have rebuilt the Shushido.

No fancy components, just hammonds and things I found discarded under rat eaten piles.... supreme confidence aided me and.... switch on.

Nothing. The valves all lit up, no burning, smoke or . Bugger.... justc a minute. The GZ34 ( Bently, aka Mullard) has a broken pin. It didnt light up.

Now it does. Plugged in an old phone with Flacs aplenty and Duane and Dicky are Statesborough Bluesing!!!!!

The speakers ( in the shed) are the superb Scott designed six feet tall, five inch wide monsters with FE126s. Lovely.

Of note, as I have no ecc83s ( they've gone to help several friends with their guitar camp front ends) I used a couple of 6SL7 adaptor sockets; equivalent spec to ecc83s, nice.

Sometimes it's good to wallow in the fun we once had!

But can it play Metallica with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra?

Never have got an SE amp to handle that properly....

That was a lovely design - nice to read that it still is

It'll play it but I suspect a little underwhelming. Still it 2as pretty 'horrible if I 'member...

I moved on to that very modern beat music that shone at Iwston by some electronic black sort of music, name likdcoldplay but wasn't with this lovely swirling sounds.

Then I went shopping for a sick friend who needs soup. Just had an apendectomy!

That would have been my fault...prodigy.. not motorised scooters
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Subaru, Saburro, the shed is really a summer house, the acoustics are poor but it'll do!
