The NHS is the finest thing humans have done whilst they have lived on this planet .
It ethos , it's function, it's compassion and logistics are humans at thier finest .

Went in yesterday for surgery on 2 hernias. All in all a very efficient and caring process. The amount of time to wait from admission to actually going to theatre was long (7 hours) but that's down to the sheer number of people needing treatment and the lack of resources so I can only have the utmost admiration for the way they handled themselves and the professionalism.
Feeling pretty sore today though!
I know, I'll do some SMD soldering to take my mind of the pain!

I hope the pain soon goes Tony.

I've deferred my decision till I get the results of my next blood test in 3 months time.

Did I mention my having dizzy spells when I tried statins? Had to stop taking them. Then just recently someone mentioned can cause joint pains as well, and I've had some of that too.

Yes Mike, there are (or can be) side effects, although it seems (from people I've spoken to) women are more likely to get them.
West Suffolk NHS have enrolled me on the "DESMOND" programme, for diabetes sufferers. My first session is on 11th September, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, and I have to take my own packed lunch and drink.

I’m sure a couple of Iced Fingers and a full fat Coke will be just the ticket.

Occular migraine.
ANT.
Slow progress because I ended up in A&E last Tuesday after I went mostly blind in the left eye apart from the centre and about half an hour later my left hand went numb. Vision came back after about half an hour, then the hand went numb. The doctor in A&E thought I might have had a mini stroke, told me to take a hefty aspirin dose and take it easy and to wait to be called for an appointment to go and see a consultant.
Saw the consultant on friday who thinks that it was most likely an occular migraine, but didn't completely rule out a mini stroke because of the numb hand.
That properly shit me up...
ALI.
Hope you’re doing ok Ant, and it was a migraine. I get the occular ones occasionally, get squiggly lines with what looks like a turning kaleidoscope inside, and I lose vision where they manifest. Always around the periphery, never in central vision. Not had any numbness, though sometimes feel a bit squiffy. Usually last 15-20 mins and I only get them when I’m very tired. No headaches though thankfully.

I've had a similar problem for several years.
I've been to the eye clinic at the West Suffolk Hospital twice, and the last "guess" was that I was having a migraine but without the headache. Usually it goes away after about 10 minutes. I've never noticed any numbness whilst it is happening.

I had a special eye test this morning for diabetic persons, and should get the results in a couple of weeks.
I had to be chauffeured because the eye drops they give you make driving near impossible in bright light.
