#1 squeezelite

Post by ed »

Does anybody have any experience with squeezelite.

Since the demise of the squeezebox classic I've been running squeezelite on the beaglebone, playing through the behringer dac direct into the amp. All has been hunky dory until I had the bright idea of feeding the AH-LITE Dac from the behringers spdif fibre output. This has improved the SQ by a large margin but has introduced some gain.

The digital volume on squeezelite is quite course, there are 10 increments instead of 100 on the squeezebox. With the behringer into the amp I had the volume around 60(percent?) but with the AH-Lite in the mix I have to back it off to 30. The trouble is 40 is too loud and 30 is barely loud enough.

The question.....does anybody know how to increase the digital volume precision on sqeezelite?

I could run squeezelite with the 100% output facility but that would mean introducing a preamp into the mix, something I would rather not do.

picoreplayer uses squeezelite. I use it on all my RPi players for ages now and it is ace. Don't know about the volume issue but I think it uses a number of volume control options https://sites.google.com/site/picoreplayer/home/news

cheers,

thanks but I don't think picoreplayer is relevant here

The only reference I can find is changing the attenuation via -R -u[attenuation=x] but this isn't going to affect the precision.

I might have to compromise on the sq and go back to the behringer on its own, the gain was spot on with that. Not sure why the AH-Lite has so much gain, it's the first time I've noticed it.........Or come to some arrangement with the neighbours.....

Now then ed. I use piCorePlayer on pis, like Izzy, I even have LMS running on one now. But I've never tried a BBB. Which implementation of squeezelight are you running?

it's armv6hf released Jan 2014, I believe its v1.5.

ok please ignore the prvious ramblings of a limited intellect.....I think I've solved it...
although the volume bar displays 10 increments(which I've been clicking to adjust the volume) the icons at either end of the bar, quieter and louder, don't register the increment bars, they increment the percentage. so 10 clicks of an icon makes one bar change....

do I get a prize for being so dense?
