Here are some updates:
The lids and bases are clamped together to round the corners:

The screw holes were countersunk a little deeper. Since the dowel holes don't look that great, I closed them with a 6mm rod, cut them and then they were polished.

The upper cover edges have already been processed with a profile cutter:

Unfortunately, one corner didn't come out completely clean:

But anyway, if you move away, you don't see it anymore.

Here is a first impression of what the enclosures with the lids will look like:

Since it rained all day today, I was able to continue building after all. The first thing I did was to build a milling template out of scrap wood:

Lids will be mounted there later. The lids can be with or without bass reflex tubes.

Today I made the change plates. As the first with the 3D printer printed a template for drilling and milling:

Tomorrow I'll get press nuts so I can assemble the two parts together.

So, last pictures from the construction. Feet mounted, final coating work done and damping material placed in lower chamber:


Then glued the lid seal (self-adhesive foam rubber 1mm thick). This seals the lower hatch cover airtight:




Then soldered on the chassis and installed:


This is what the speakers look like now. I don't like the look of the drivers. They have these sealing strips on the outside (for mounting behind the baffle).
Do any of you have an idea (with photo) how to beautify the chassis on the exterior....

Where did you buy these grilles?

Or are they homemade? Is there a drawing for it? What material are they made of?

My son made them out of MDF with a router, then I sprayed them with metallic bronze paint.
Grille material is Fender guitar amp weave.
The radius is 6mm larger than the outer diameter of the driver.

I can't supply pictures as I'm currently lecturing in Barrow, but a traditional favourite is to cut a ring of thin cork, velvet / synthetic velvet or similar and use that, with or without a template. We did the latter at MA-Sota on the Viotti Ones and nobody ever complained about their appearance as far as I know. To each their own of course. A more expensive option is to create a template & get a tame local foundry to machine or cast some bronze / aluminium rings to fit over the top. Likely a trifle expensive for a 12in though.

Did you also use the gaskets that came with the driver? I find them very thick. The driver sticks out 12mm with them.
