Nice bike dave, my brother has a few old mopeds, that one looks in good condition.

Ta, yeah, its not too bad, the tank which is part of the frame is the biggest concern. It needs de-rusting. Lots of ways of doing it so it seems.

I've been treating the tank with 40% Phosphoric Acid. Seems to be doing the trick OK but the 1st attempt after flushing with tap water caused some 'flash-rusting' as I believe its called.

Today I repeated the process but have just drained but not flushed the tank, looks healthier...


I stripped all the paint from the tank section too just to see if there's anything worrying under the silver paint the the previous owner had applied over some surface rust areas but it seems pretty good all over actually...

Aaaa-and, one more time. I know I've been doing a lot of churches lately, I'm not especially religious but camping in churches has been fun. But going to have to economise tho, it's not too cheap! Sort of like what you'd pay for a Premier Inn or Travelodge, but no running water, a chemical toilet, and sometimes no leccy! Oh and, strangers want to come in and wander about. You don't normally get that with a Premier Inn room .....

In New Zealand, these malodorous boxes are known as "Dial-a-Dunny". Norra lotta people know that. Anyway, I love these places - the churches, that is - and will be delighted to have more pics/comments from your travels. Reminds me of James A Fitzpatrick, but I suppose I'm the only one who remembers him . . . .
