Ultrasonic clean CDs
#16 Re: Ultrasonic clean CDs
I have cleaned a CD in an ultrasonic bath before.
It sounded much better after so I decided to do it again and put the heater on. Big mistake, the bloody top label came off and now it wont play. Well it will but it sounds like Norman Collier and nothing like Sheryl Crow.
I wont be doing it again.

Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

One could almost say 'pregnant' or 'generous 1s.

When you say it sounded much better after the first (cold) clean can you expand on that at all ?

I experienced more atmosphere of the recording. The cd was fairly grubby and so i was not surprised it got better. It skipped on one track and this was much improved after the first clean. There must have been more information coming through..
As things in an ultrasonic bath vibrate along with it, i think it is important to rest the cd on something that will protect it.

I've just ordered a 2.5 Ltr ultrasonic cleaner.
Not specifically for CD cleaning but I will give CDs a go.
