Never listened to him that much, but he was one of those artists who was just part of the fabric of the universe. The world's a less colourful place today.
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Grew up with his music.
I feel surprisingly bereft this morning, hearing about this.

Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

This is a major bummer and it did make me feel old today. I wonder if it was lung cancer, as he did smoke a fair bit ?
One of our youngers guys at work ( from Canada ) said at least he'd lived to a good age ( ? ) at which someone explained to him that this is only 2 years after he'll be able to retire.
For anyone who's a fan and hasn't got the 2-disc 'Bowie at the BBC' CD, have a listen to that and it'll bring a tear to your eye, but it does sound so fresh and has lovely acoustic versions of all the forthcoming hits and album tracks. Peel is on there of course , in his usual understated style

I like his later stuff, but somewhere also got a double CD best of, or I did have.
