#1 TNT star speaker cable.

Post by pre65 »

I've just been reading the TNT star speaker cable article.

http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/star.html

I've ordered 4 mtrs of this 4 core + shield cable.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191564238780? ... EBIDX%3AIT

So, when it comes I will make up two 2 mtr cables to try. :)

PS I've just realised the cable I've ordered is not "twisted", but I'll have a go anyway.

Interesting - the article states that you should use 2mm² or above cores...

The cable in the auction is 7/0.1 per core, which equates to 0.055mm² - won't that defeat the design?

The recommended cable is class "CY" which is rated for industrial control and is screened, e.g. http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/cy-cable/0522626/ and http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/cy-cable/5143871/.

Farnell have some 1mm² for sale by the metre: http://uk.farnell.com/lapp-kabel/001570 ... dp/1617903 - the rest is by the reel...

EDIT: Really neat eBay auction that sells exacty what you need at a reasonble price.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/271610586510

That Ebay cable I ordered was totally, and utterly, unsuitable.

I won an auction for some Black Rhodium Twist Speaker Cables , they were inexpensive so we will see how they compare. :)
