My dad loved Acker, as well as Kenny Ball, Chris Barber, Monty Sunshine and Humph. I was listening to British Trad Jazz as a babe in arms.
I'm still a great fan of the genre, very few of the original crew are left now.
British Trad never fails to bring a smile to my face. Goodtime music par excellence.

Many (many) moons ago, I used to go to Ronnie Scott's.
How he lived as long as he did, I'll never know - every time we saw him he was completely out of his head, mostly, I suspect, on what he constantly referred to as "Colombian marching powder"...
At least Acker Bilk lived to a decent age - 14 years fighting cancer at the end...
