Been in the Lakes this week ... under cover. No actually, there were 2.5 days of perfect weather.
Today it was coming down stair-rods, so drove up to Keswick. Managed to get to the record shop an hour after they had officially closed.
Luckily Mark and Heather were both in there doing some jobs and saw my sad face outside and let me in.
Perhaps there was something in it for them ?
Anyway, I resisted the temptation to buy an early Tubby Hayes LP for a very decent £100, and instead bought :
Stanley Clark 'School Days'
Charlie Byrd 'Latin Impressions' ( on Riverside, 1962 )
Zappa 'In New York' dbl, 1977, nice clean copy .

The missus bought herself a copy of rem automatic for the people, the person had listed it as atomic for the people so it only went for 15 quid.
Arrived today and its turned out to be a 1992 first pressing

Bought a couple this week, first time ive bought any music for ages.
Sweetnighter by weather report,
song for everyone by L. Shankar,
parkers mood by sadao watanabe,
my song by keith jarrett.
Want some more stuff with jan garbarek playing on it, he has a rather distinctive style
All off discogs this time

Well i got sick of hearing the same bloody things the missus keeps playing over and over again, so i decided to look at some more of the jazz/fusion/world music type of stuff.
Ive been after sweetnighter for a while (id put it in the discogs want list), the keith jarret one because of the fact that jan garbarek plays on it and i enjoy personal mountains that they collaborated on, the sadao watanabe one because i have been pondering japanese jazz and i couldnt find any soil and pimp sessions on vinyl, and the song for everyone because i really liked making music by zakir hussein and both he and garbarek are on it.
I seem to be heading off on a tangent with my more recent musical tastes

To add to that list I suspect you will will like stuff by and with Trilok Gurtu.
Little known fact, coherent thought can destructively interfere with itself leaving no thought at all, that’s why I prefer incoherent thought.

I had a hankering to buy an original copy of Davy Graham's 'Large as life and twice as natural' last year.
They were looking like about £150.
I forgot about that for a while, but started thinking about it again a day or two ago, so went looking just now on Discogs.
They now cost at least £300 !
Where will it all end ?

I suppose im lucky in that the ones i got were about a tenner each, apart from sweetnighter which was 2 quid. Its abit poppy and clicky, but quietened down once i put it through the moth, and the sleeve is in a state.
Im not however a collector per se, i buy them to play them.
Anything popular seems to be worth a fortune, my copy of led zep 4 if mint would be worth anout 430 quid apparently!
The wierdest one is a copy of limp bizkits chocolate starfish which i bought new when it came out in 2000, if mint, would now be worth about 250 quid

Star by Jan Garbarek might tick your requirements box Ant.

Format doesn't matter, the music is very special (IMO).

How'd you get all that for £20 ??
Did they do a later re-issue of 'Saucerful' that isn't expensive nowadays ?

Yes theres one on the fame label which is the reissue from the early 90s thats the one i got today
I have another reissue somewhere on white vinyl
The guy i got them off has a little local shop that sells homeware stuff, he doesnt do records but ended up with a collection of about 700 to 800 lps from somewhere.
Nobody has been through them yet, i got in first and only looked at maybe a quarter of them. He just picked a price out of his head
