#1 Op amp swapping.

Post by pre65 »

At times, some of us have swapped op amps in equipment (e-bay DACs spring to mind) to good effect.

Has anyone tried HDAM op amp replacements ?

To me....It looks like they've taken all the transistors out of an 8 pin op amp and made the same IC but using discrete components.

Buy one Popz and lets find out!

HDAM seems to be subtly different for each device that Marantz produce - its a discrete current FB amp and will, of course, introduce its own noise etc.

Several schematics are out there - here's a couple:

I have used a similar one in a headphone amp, can't remember the name of the company but they did 3 different ones called sun earth and moon they all sound different I ended up with earth iirc sounds better than any opamp I've tried.
