Good call there by Mr.TheBass on Clear Spot .
I would add 'Doc at the Radar Station' to the list as it's one of my faves these days and I reckon one of his best, it's the penultimate album he made and has a punky flavour at times .

I've been recommended Chet Baker, this one is nice. There are vocals towards the end.
PS It's a flugelhorn he is playing.

Blimey! Front page news, "Phil in good taste shocker"!
Amazing Chet could play or sing anything after allegedly having most of his teeth removed by other peoples feet!
My Dad was a fan of his playing when he was in Gerry Mulligans quartet. Might be your cuppa tea too. Try...
Its a non-chordal instrumented Quartet, like Siri Svale's Band.

Ha! Nah, though he was a bit 'unstable' shall we say and he did get to see Gerry M's Quartet play my Dad wasn't a hip Jazzer muso. Quite how he (my Dad) got into non-chordal Jazz is still a mystery, he (me Dad!) had no musical training or education, he just liked that sound. Thats Ok with meshane wrote:Your Dad was in Gerry Mulligan's Quartet? Respect....Dave the bass wrote: My Dad was a fan of his playing when he was in Gerry Mulligans quartet.

Between 7.30pm and 9.50pm last night Chas and Dave live in concert at the Orchard Theatre, Dartford. Brilliant gig, my throat hurts from singing too loudly, so does JTS's and her 82 year old Mum!
