#1 LT Spice Basics

Post by IslandPink »

Well, I finally decided to bite the bullet and downloaded LT Spice.
If I can learn a few things about it, and some simple analysis options, I can avoid having to ask Nick or Andrew all the time about little tweaks of mods to ciruits, and their effect .

I'm hoping it'll not be any more difficult than 'HornResp' to pick up the basics. That went OK .

OK first things first . Is a '.asc' file the actual circuit, or just a picture ?
I just downloaded Andrew's LCR phono circuit 'LCR-RIAA.asc' from Intact Audio .
Would like to run a frequency response on it first ; then try removing one of the bleed resistors across the caps to ground .

If anyone has seen a good thread somewhere for basic tuition, let me know . I will go looking .

asc is a type of file.

You may need a program to open asc. files.

OK I found the button 'Simulate>Run' - this seems like a good one !
I filled in some boxes for an octave 5 points per oct 20 to 20000 -
returns script " .ac oct 5 20 20000"

I get error message "This circuit does not have a conduction path to ground! Please flag a node as ground."

There is 'ground' marked on the circuit, so there must be something I need to do, to make the program see it is Ground .

They might in Bedford.

I'd struggle with Spice when sober, let alone winebottled.

It's a word they use for the open source emulator WINE that enables windows apps to run on old Macs.
Winebottling means the necessary WINE code to make the app run, is bundled with the app itself.
