I know a luthier in Alford who fettles my bass when it needs surgery. He makes clones of that thar gittarrr, has done for many years:

Very nice indeed . I checked out the prices and they seem reasonable considering the effort required and the quality of the workmanship .

I watched a documentary last night about 6 guitars Mark Knopfler had used through important parts of his life. It ended with a guitar by (and a interview with) John Montelone. Which led me to this site.
