Can't resist.... this is the (bonkerz) track that introduced me to Brand X. Yes, I know its Big Jim Sullivan... but listen to it...

It was Percy Jones burp-dee-burpin' n sliding around all over the place that made me seek him and the 'X' out. Finding music was harder in the pre-interweb days.

So I asks a question and nothing makes any sense in any of the replies - This pc (at work) won't play UTube though I can see there's lots there but the '...bonkers ....' comment helps. Bonkers cant be all bad.

Nope, sorry I can't! But its Simon Phillips on Drums, Percy Jones on't Bass, Big Jim on't twanger + Dave Lawson and Nicky Moore too.

I don't own that Big Jim album 'Test of Time' its called, meh, only got a copy of it on cassette. Played it to death about 25 (DIET, make that 30)yrs ago. Haven't heard it much since then but it's all come back to me this lunchtime.

Mo Foster plays on that album too.
Now I saw Simon Phillips, Mo Foster and Tony Hymas in Jeff Beck's band in '81. Dynamite band - left you literally breathless with the energy they emitted.

Back to Brand X.
I think that one of the fundamental principles of the band was to deliberately write and record tunes that no widespread commercial appeal.
So they're offbeat and quirky and very individual.

I like them
