I'm Andy

I've been reading through a good many of the threads for the past couple of weeks and have been very impressed with the projects some of the members have undertaken.

I've only dabled on and off with diy hifi over the years but may give something a bit more adventurous a go especially after recenty hearing an A2 amp that was an absolute revalation

My kit is mainly vintage with:

Speakers from BTH and Westrex along with present day JBL's.
A couple ot EMT turntables plus a Garrard 401
A few valve amps, EL34 PP & PE1/100 SET plus SS monoblocks.
Plus lots of other bits

Hi Dave, yes that was me.

They were the second pair of 1a's I have had. IMHO the best speakers Rogers made.

They are now with a new owner who bought them for a 2nd system and they ended up replacing the quad 57's in his main one.

but A2 Amps...
sounds like you'll fit in well around here...

BTH speakers... very intersting... theres not much info about cinema stuff out there, i have a set of 3 BTH amps and their power supply, i believe from a SUPA but its hard to find any info about them,

Andy, any more details on this A2 amp ?

Some of us are experimenting with A2 at the moment.

An old mate of mine who works for the EU in Brussels but comes home at the weekends invited me over to hear a colleagues SET amp. It was a stereo A2 amp using 811a valves. Kev only had the amp on loan for the weekend so I grabbed the opportunity. It was bloody heavy and I wondered if he only called me to help him lift it out of the back of his car.

The builder was a Belgian guy called Willie. It was his first A2 amp and he has now built another mono pair using 35T valves with 4 chassis per side.

Kev may buy the 811a amp as his mate Willie thinks the 35T amp is even better. I said if he didn't buy it I certainly would but it seems that there are a few others who have 1st dibs over me.

I have an 811a amp myself and I like what it does.

I've asked my mate to see if he can get the schematic.

It uses some unusual driver valves that I've never seen before with american type No's.
