Jackie Leven was described by the Guardian as a "national treasure". His former band, Doll by Doll, were described by another critic as "the greatest rock band you've never heard of" (not that they could be properly classified as a rock band). Chances are you have never heard any of Jackie's music. Do yourself a favour and search out (for starters) the eponymously named Doll By Doll album and his solo album, The mystery of love is greater than the mystery of death (one of the best 100 albums of all time according to Q magazine).
Is your interest piqued? It damn well should be.

Sad to hear the guy's passed on. I had heard of both Jackie Leven and Doll By Doll but will confess that I've never heard any of their stuff.
Can remember the band being featured regularly in Sounds & NME.
And yes, my interest is piqued though it's a bit sad it took Leven's death to make it so.
