Why not ask him?
Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.

I think what Phil (Pre65) was hinting at is it is usually polite that new members introduce themselves within the 'New Users' Index with perhaps a little background info on their interests etc. No personal information, or just simply a "Hello I'm..........................."

Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

Why not indeed.

Presumably that's why we have a "new users" section ?

It's not compulsory, but as Colin T said, perhaps polite ?

Not a big deal either way.

I think Pauls question was why does Phil care, Yes, it is nice to say hi, but the world won't end.
