I think what Phil (Pre65) was hinting at is it is usually polite that new members introduce themselves within the 'New Users' Index with perhaps a little background info on their interests etc. No personal information, or just simply a "Hello I'm..........................."Well I didn't really come here to get personal.

Why not indeed.
Presumably that's why we have a "new users" section ?
It's not compulsory, but as Colin T said, perhaps polite ?
Not a big deal either way.

I think Pauls question was why does Phil care, Yes, it is nice to say hi, but the world won't end.
Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.
