#1 FLIPPIN'nECK - PPPHHHRRRROOOOOAAAAAAWWWWWWARRRRRRRRRRR
This morning a friend came to clinic - very interesting hearing loss - somehow in the session (don't know how) it becomes imperative I try his new heapphones.
Beats by Dr Dra. 'solo' around £150
UNBELIEVABLE - this is the sort of bass that cracks ribs and slams you up against the wall - but its going on in yer head.
I am fascinated - what would a string quartet sound like? But I have NEVEREVERNEVERNEVERNEVER heard anything like this.
- neverNEVERnever
Full - flippin'stop.

Yes, I dithered between the two, got the 10's as they were cheaper in the end.JackOfAll wrote:The UE 10's are on my top two list of in-ear phones. I use my Shure E500's when out and about. (They morphed into the SE530, which has now been replaced by the SE535.) But if I didn't own the Shure's, I'd buy a pair of UE 10's. It's a coin flip between the 530 and the 10. Neither has a clear advantage.Ali Tait wrote:I've a pair of the Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10's, which I think are very good indeed, certainly better than the Sennheiser HD580's I used to have. They're not cheap though.

I've just come back from Comet Warehouse.
It took a while to find something classical; Beethoven's fifth Piano Concerto - a good choice. It sounded awful; exaggerated bass and 'somewhat' lacking in the top. There was detail but the sound balance was all wrong. part of this might be the almost total lack of dynamic range of the source - MP3, of course.
when I heard the solos in clinic this morning the piece of music was er 'modern rap' sort of stuff and it was a phenomenon. I have never heard the like in musical reproduction. It was stunning; it was like oooo having your brains beaten out by two large gold bricks with a twist of lemming.
Its all too confusing.

Ha!
SWIDT?
Do you think the 'source' that the young fella was powering these Beats headphones from had an EQ setting that emphasised the bottom end even more? Possibly? Justa an idea.

undoubtedly! but what an astonishing sound to have in yer head! all the above is true, I am sure.
As my chum only has one ear of hearing left I did suggest that it was time to look after his ears - he is far more sensible than he was when I first met him about eight years ago. Now he's a strapping sixth former and way too cool!
I'll catch him up in school and suggest more ways of saving his residual hearing - might even draw him a diagram.

And it doesn't seem that long ago when it was "when you get to 30 - 40 you're going to be as deaf as somebody of 70 - 80"
This guy is as deaf as my uncle (82 and also only 1 ear working) and he ain't left school yet
