Since you mention it.
I've been using Tesla E88CC tubes in place of 6n6p-ev for a week or so.
A bit more detail, a bit more realistic sounding. A bit harsher, but i'm adjusting to that.

Didn't like them in my cheap headphone amp, and actually preferred the original Chinese equivalent 6n11 i think.
However in the preamp they're not bad at all.

Swap out the 6N6P's for ECC99's. 6N6P's are too syrupy/tubey for my liking.
Just worth pointing out that it was found all of 8 years ago that there are 6n6p and 6n6p. One is as you describe, the other is far better. Can't remember off the top of my head what the visible difference is.

Anyone else tried them?

Nick, what's the difference between the good and bad'uns?

Its the factory that made them, the chap who made the claim said it was down to where they were made not the parts used - tho' that may, or may not, be a difference too. I'll try and dig out the place names involved. I think one was the Refleckor plant, or Novibyrisk (spelling).

I seem to recall all the ones I have are not the better ones, sadly. I even ordered mine from the same seller, the place where the chap who put me onto the difference got his, he also ordered more and second time around he got the lesser ones.

cheers,

Andrew

Yes, I was trying to find Dave Dove's original post, but I think its several WAD forums ago.

Anyway, room for differing views.

there are 6n6ps and 6n6ps
if you know what i mean
the difference being:
good and very good
these novosibirsk ones are plentiful
but the reflektor ones are less microphonic
-they have extra springy bits inside-
but you often get novosibirsk
despite the ebay photo showing reflektor
hence this thread

looking forward to the 6n2p

I do recall reading somewhere that after Gorbachov came to power, all the plants producing the ultra pure metals used to make valves were closed down, and most of the valve producing plants were closed and their machinery sold to the Chinese, if true it would appear that pre Gorbachov valves should be better quality.

As far as i know, the only ones that are anything special are 6n6p-EV. Which are the ones i use.
Not many for sale at a sensible price nowadays.

Mr Lampizator says the 6H30 was designed for a different application and doesn't sound as good. Doesn't mean a thing of course. :)

Is the 6H30 a 6n6p equivalent?
