don't know why but for some reason I've just bought one of these,

has anyone got one of them what did you use for a PS?

That's the one we've been discussing in the Beginners section.
Three of us have them i think.

The power supply is onboard, so you just need to connect one or two 12-15v
transformers to the board.
I use a 12-0-12v 30Va, and a 12v with twin secondaries.

There's at least a couple of threads over on DIYaudio, which deal with modding them.
I've just started changing things on mine.

Hi David.

I use an 15-0-15 and a 0-12v (0-6 + 0-6 in series) on mine.

The 15-0-15 was more like 17-0-17 so I had to resistor it down to 15-0-15 as the regulator chips were getting a bit hot.

Not sure what the VA ratings are as they were unmarked, but they get a bit warm.

thanks Al and Philip

where did you get your tx from, my brain hurts trying to find one :?

they suggest this one from them

I can't believe how much I've forgotten

Both mine were in my spares box.

If I were starting from scratch I'd probably go with the one you linked to.

Two toroids from RS / Rapid / Farnell etc would be an alternative but take up more space.

I think I might do that,

funny the listing says 220v but the tx in the picture says 230v :?

I have a similar transformer (looks the same but different voltages) for my TDA1541 DAC valve output stage and that has two 115v primaries.

The 3 way connector (in front of the middle large capacitor) is 15 - 0 - 15.

The 2 way next to it is 0 - 9 or 0 - 12

Standard, Good. With better op amps, very good. With valve output stage good as I have heard.

Did any of you get involved with the "Cheapo Chinese Dac" malarkey a few years ago? Just wondered if these were any better.
