#1 Bulbs

Post by Darren »

Quoted from elsewhere

Nick, "Well, it takes all sorts, but for a real system challenge, why not connect a 12v car headlamp light bulb to the output of the amplifier and see how bright you can make it go."

Sometimes I worry whom I'm mixing with !! What must go through some peoples minds.

Can't wait to get home to try it though :D

I've got access to loads of low voltage high wattage Microscope bulbs here, I'll try a few on 6EM7 in a mo

Is it only brightness we're looking for or quality of destruction of the amp?

Second question.

Which do you find funnier: Benny Hill or Black Adder?

Ooohhh, tuffy that one.

BH for Baldy-slap-on-the-head routines and Slack Bladder for Baldrick-slap-on-the-head-routines.

On reflection, BA.

Ok, now the next question.

Irony, is it:

1. A measure of how many transformers there are in an amplifier

2. A form of utterance that postulates a double audience, consisting of one party that hearing shall hear & shall not understand, & another party that, when more is meant than meets the ear, is aware both of that more & of the outsiders’ incomprehension.

I got the irony from the beginning seeing as Nick responded elsewhere to something I posted about a piece of music that was a good test of a systems competence and versatility...... or not. I thought it a bit unfair. Certainly it 'takes all sorts' and I assess my system not just based on some sounds but it's ability to play anything and everything. In such circumstances, is it not reasonable to identify and trial music that can challenge a systems capabilities? I suppose because it is well known I sit firmly in the push pull camp, others might consider I have an alternative agenda of attempting to undermine the reputation of SE. This certainly is not the case and frankly would be a waste of energy.

I'm not very good at irony but I do like a laff.

Music is such a personal thing, everyones bound to differ on opinion's and views.

I love it and the way it gets reproduced using plastic, glass, bit's of wire and paper.

I'm a simple sort,

Good 'ere innit!
