In my former life, someone said exactly that to me as I nicked him for theft of car batteries from a local car spares shop. When he said it, my response was, "You can't say that. They'll never believe it in court!"

Absolute crap. Nothing 'Ace' about it whatsoever.

That shows.........It's all very much about personal taste.

A Gentleman would say 'Sorry, don't like that'

A Philistine would say 'Absolute crap. Nothing 'Ace' about it whatsoever.'

The world don't revolve around you old son :)

I can understand people not liking it, which probably has some influence on why I like it. Probably, but not neccessarily.

I think he realizes this, which is why he then posted

So it's ok to say something negative then add a disclaimer?

I try, but don't always succeed, to be positive. Some folks don't, which is ok I suppose, that's just the way some folks are.

Well, I think its ok to express a opinion and then to acknowledge that others may have different views.

Much like some who have scant regard for classical music seemingly on class war basis.

It's a nice ideal but if you say to me

"diode cathode bias is best"

I will have to reply in the negative

"in my experience cathode led or silicone diode bias shrinks the soundstage (compared to resistor bias)"

this is negative to your world but I have to say it because it is a truth which I have discovered by actually listening to the differences. quite often the opinions against which I can be perceived as negative have had no listening experience confirmed by others present at the time.

So one sometimes has to be negative to what an individual posts for the greater good.

Then of course what happens is that one gets attacked for one's counter opinion which one only presented to benefit the whole.

So one buggers off and enjoys ones own life unhindered by armachair charioteers.

I think you can extend that to just about any sentance that end with "is best"
