The Mu of 55 looks ideal, and there seems to be a few of these tubes about.
I would have to fit an extra pair of sockets to add another stage anyway.
So this is worth trying.

I paid $5.00 each for mine, and that might have been above the odds. I have some of these devils spare, if you don't find anywhere else at a good price let me know - do watch out for microphony, however, they can be a bit zingy, buy a few and get the best. But that's still cheaper than new production 88 - so gotta be worth a punt.
