WAV files.

I think we all know by now what this section is for.

#1 WAV files.

Post by pre65 »

Can you send WAV files by e-mail ?

Just wondered, as it would be quicker than copying a disc then posting it.

EDIT

The file is 697MB and I tried sending it to myself. I got a message that there was not enough memory !!

Yes, but you'll probably find that your mail server will limit your mail attachments to something like 20 or 30 MB.... Maybe a little more... So fine for a WAV or two, but you'd have to send multiple mails for a whole album. Better to zip them up with WinZip or WinRAR. At least you can send 4 or 5 times as many in one mail.

Just attach it to the email. Or compresses it first to save bandwidth.

No,

But emailing a CD is possibly going to upset a few mail server admin. Maybe better looking into using dropbox to share the file.

Chris has set me up with "Dropbox" (thanks Chris) and I'm just testing it with some files he left for me.

As has been said by others, you'll almost certainly have a limit of 10-20MB on mail attachments, plus it'll take quite a while to upload even if you can.

Snail mail or a drop box sounds a better solution.

Be aware that there might be monitoring for copyrighted material with an on-line transfer.

Have patience with DropBox Phil, it's worth it. Honest.
