Hi-when marking out alloy boxes for drilling holes etc i stick a sheet of white fablon to the panel and mark out on that.
Makes the markings easier to see and when you have finished the surface is easier to clean or polish.
For finishing alloy i use grit impregnated rubber blocks,available in different grades but i forget where the last ones came from.Possibly a motorcycle autojumble.
If anyone has a supplier let us know because my coarse (blue) one is nearly worn out.

I draw my plans up in Autocad, print them and stick them on the plate.
If doing monos it's easy to mirror the drawing before printing.

Hi-when i have got the desired finish on alloyuminium with my polishing blocks is there anything i can use to protect the surface !
I am experimenting on a few scraps with car spray lacquer,and a wipe over with WD40 has been suggested.
Any other options ?
