Snigger. Though something about that 'collage' picture reminds me of anti abortionists, ake news, Don trump and other bad America.

Here's a thing though.... wonder how long it'll last. Soviet/ russian valves/ caps and other interesting devices really have gone up in price. EBay are toll advertising the usual Ukrainian sellers, no Russian ones, odd Bosnian and so on. But the prices, oh my!

Sod it. The damned music server has died. I haven't even built the DAC yet and the source is already broken.

I don't think it's even getting as far as booting into BIOS - I've tried connecting a display to the HDMI port (it's an Intel NUC Atom) - nothing, no HDMI signal. The light comes on, and goes off when you hold the power button down. It usually beeps at power-on - that doesn't happen any more. Just hope the data on the disk is okay.

When it was working, it was running Daphile, and working very well.

Bloody computers!

Maybe this is an opportunity to upgrade it to something that'll do PCM to DSD conversion in real-time...

I've not upgraded my computer yet but I'm told the most recent version of HQPlayer reduces the processing load a fair bit if that's a route you're interested in? You would still need a relatively powerful processor though.

FWIW I run an Intel i7 that benchmarks at about 11500 with AudioLinux and generally boot/run everything in RAM. DSD256 is generally fine and DSD512 with some less demanding filter options is reliable.

Alternatively, if you're interested in sticking with what you've got, I have an Intel NUC with Atom processor and small SSD that I'm not using?
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

29th April to be precise.

Thanks - I may take you up on that if I can't get this one going.

Bit of a dilemma this morning.... whilst doing a water change on the aquarium. I noticed the external filter has been leaking and water has been absorbed by the chipboard ( maybe HDF) cupboard on which it sits and has swollen bits at the bottom of the cupboard. So I now have 350 ltrs of water potentially sitting on top of a structure that is structurally compromised. What’s ever I do will be a PITA. Maybe it’s time to stop keeping fish. To make it worse off on holiday for a week, really hoping I don’t come back to 350 ltrs of water being absorbed into the floor.
