Never, ever, consider using Saga for anything. Ever.
Wot, not even as a description for a collection of Icelandic Prose?

We had a good Icelandic friend: Gunnlaugur Christiansen.

He was the absolute most terrifying thing to look at: 6' 6" tall, big framed and a face that looked like a cake that'd been left out in the rain - very very scary.

He was a gentle soul, though I once saw him drink a whole bottle of vodka with no visible effect. We did a lot of conferences round Europe and the USA together.

Some years ago SWMBO & I were going to Iceland, so called him up. A very apologetic voice at the other end if the phone told us he'd just died of testicular cancer. His father and grandfather had both died of the same thing and he'd expected to get it too. Very sad. He was young.

Because the gene pool is limited in Iceland and people married locally, there is a lot of familial cancer. Iceland is used in a lot of studies of genetically inherited diseases.

Edit: I'd forgotten that in Icelandic, the short form of Gunnlaugur is "Guuly". Ironic.

I thought of this:

Which quote? The one I quoted was a few weeks ago in this thread.

Now i have an ankle the size of a football and several other scrapes and bumps

Don’t look at it as bad luck , but part of learning .

I read somewhere that neuroplasticity (your brain learning and developing new skills) takes place on the edge of what’s possible. I live by this doctrine and thus expect to fall an injure my self monthly and go to ae three times yearly.

So far it’s proved an accurate assumption

I've been watching YouTube videos of urban flood drainage problems (mainly USA) and I got into drain unblocking videos (mainly UK), how sad is that ?

One point, blocked drains are often due to "wipes", rather than poo or tissue. Some wipe manufacturers say their wipes are flush friendly, but drain unblockers might disagree.
