Start doing O.A.P Rave-ups with them Disco boxes
You've got an amp, some big speakers and a TT. All you need now is some duff ol' records.....oh...hang on a minute....haven't you already got............
Good find there Phil, well done.

Can you take a close up pic of the drivers? I may have dissassembled a set of these in the past. The bass driver was particularily nice, and the mids were of the same family as those in Radford S90s.

Hi Dave-try these !

I have seen pictures of a different mid range driver (Philips 2" soft dome ?) and of similar mid/tweeter but slightly differently positioned.
They certainly have a "big" sound,in fact quite impressive. They were a very similar price to Quad ESL speakers when new.

Tried a few different amps with the Magister's tonight, and 829b PSE ultralinear was the favourite, although I suspect PT15 S/E will be better when I get round to connecting it up in ultralinear.
Mos-fet was a no-no, just not enough guts, and 300b was alright.

Yes, I'm just wondering why the woofers have to be so ginormous.Dave the bass wrote: Start doing O.A.P Rave-ups with them Disco boxes
Looks like the sort of thing you can hear all over the housing estate if you leave the windows open on a warm Saturday night.
Presumably the two little holes are "tuning ports"

In my living room they sound "big and warm" if that helps.

Well I can't imagine any other reason for them being there.
Unless it's to make it easier for the mice to get in.

yeah it's the mice.
if you look closely you'll see 'in' & 'out' written in large friendly letters by the ports in Mouse-ese - it looks something like 'rubbish' & 'speakers' in English.

I got round to removing the drive units this morning !
The bass unit is NOT a Goodmans, it's an HH acoustics unit. The mid range driver has a tiny magnet and the tweeter is marked Taiwan.
So are any of these original ?????????????????
Perhaps not such a bargain as was thought.
So do I try these on an OB or box them up and e-bay them ? (without misrepresenting them of course)

as eni fule no,
HH is (was?) a big PA and band equipment amp / speaker maufacturer. Back in the 1980s we had an HH PA rig and I used a 2X15 Bass speaker for my keyboards.
-um, it was good (SS) kit.
Your Bass units will be fine for sperimentin' and that's what you wanted to do, wasn't it!?!
& when you're done you could get your money back on eBay by selling them on, Shirley!
