Hi Martin
What format are you ripping the CDs in ?
If you are ripping as flac then everything should play in the correct order, as the track will contain metadata relevant to itself.
Same with mp3.
If you are ripping as wav. then this is where the problem lies - wav. does not support metadata as such, and Squeezecenter cannot place the tracks in order.
If you are ripping as wav. that begs the question, why ?
Flac is in my experience indistinguishable from wav. as it is losslessly compressed.

Rereading your post, a further question or two.
What format did you download from Linn ?
Did you then just import the files into your library, or did you burn them to CD and then rip the CD ?
Everything I've ripped from CD has been done as flac and no settings had to be adjusted in Squeezecenter to get the tracks to play in order.

Assuming the problem is one of tagging, you can get a very good tagging tool here http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ . It does not work on wav files.

You are correct with the way EAC goes about its' business.Deco-Doctor wrote:HiThe Stratmangler wrote:

I am ripping CD's with EAC direct to FLAC. I think EAC rips to WAV first, then makes the FLAC file and deletes the original WAV, I think thats how it works?
I downloaded the Linn file in FLAC format.

Sounds like a tagging issue more than anything else.
Try the MP3 tagger thing on something with few tracks.
If you can maybe post some screenshots of the files viewed with the tagger it would be a big help.
As I've said, I've not changed anything in Squeezecenter to make tracks play in order, just to make things appear on the SB3 display as I want them to. Customizing my view if you like. The native behaviour of Squeezecenter, apart from disabling thevolume control and setting preamp level to 63, has not been changed in my setup.

Hi Martin
I am now going to come out with the least helpful comment of all time (at least with regard to this issue), that is that the track tagging looks fine to me.
You can vary the order of the tracks in the tagging program by clicking the header column, but you have a track 1, track 2 etc. in the track column, and the order these appear in the tag editor are actually irrelevant to the problem.
So possibly there is a problem with the way Squeezecenter is seeing the files (oh great ).
I'll have a think.
PM sent.
