just ask them to go out because you need to wrap their christmas presents up while you've got a minute. that'll get 'em shifted !

Ah yes, a useful ruse, but sadly flawed.

These are wily teens of the older variety, who know damn well that my wife always wraps the presents, much closer to Christmas.

Perhaps if i told them Sainsburys were giving away booze, i'd have more success.

In reality, i'll just have to sit it out.
Much to learn there is.

Would a simple 'please sod off' not work?

I want to run my marantz the same was so i can compare. Apparantly the marantz dac has 2 outputs per channel, out of phase.

Im not really sure what that means as far as linking it up to a valve stage is concerned :?

Have a look at this site Graeme.

http://www.lampizator.eu/

There's a lot here, but he's done tube outputs to a few Marantz players.
I tried it with a CD50 a while back with success, but still preferred my DVD player transport in the end.

PS1 now much better, seems to have improved after 20 mins of running.
Too early to make judgments yet. It's got a different presentation to my normal system.
Much to learn there is.

I'm also getting some hum, similar to what you described earlier.
Its not there with the DVD/DAC combo, so must be PS1 based, maybe the SMPS power supply.
Doesn't seem to be related to earthing.
It's just loud enough to be annoying.
Much to learn there is.

Well the hum was easily sorted.
Caused i think, by having the PS1 very close to the unshielded toroid in the Lampydac.
Much to learn there is.
