Morning All.
#1 Morning All.
Hello Folks,
my name is James and I live near Oxford.
I work in the Domestic Electronics Service Industry, have done now for 23 years. It's changed dramatically over that time and especially in the past 3 to 5 years. I now have to fix Microwaves and Vacuum Cleaners I wasn't that keen when I had to start repairing TV's, I'm a Hi-Fi Man through and through.
I'm a big, big fan of CD. I was fortunate enough to get to attend a course from a Technician at Sony whilst at College learning my Trade on the 'New Format', Compct Disc Digital Audio. I have seen it progress to what is now capable from 16/44.1 and love it still.
I dabble in DIY and at the moment use my home-made SIngle-Ended Class A EL33 Amp. A modest 3-5 Watts per channel into some Rega Ela's fed from a Pioneer PD-73 CD Player and I'm in heaven!
I was pointed in this forum's direction by a fellow member of another forum and I intend to be asking lots of questions regarding Valves and thier implementation as we brushed over the glass bottles at college because they ''...were a dead technology...''!
Well, that's enough for now, I look forward to being a part of this forum with many discussions about our great passion.
James.

We all have our crosses to bear, I suppose ! It won't be long before folk will be suffering the dewy eyed nostalgia of CDs and their neat little jewel cases as many of our sort revel if the faff and ritual of their favourite LPs.
As for valves... they're rubbish. We all know that.
I think I have captured the collective feeling of this BB - !!! Welcome !!!
I hope you enjoy it here in the same way that since July 15th all I have had to cook with has been a microwave. I have come to recognise a few good points but now fully understand the limitations; one of which is that they do not, in any way, play a part in musical reproduction.

Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.
