#1 Digital interconnects.

Post by al newall »

Assuming these are different from analogue interconnects, what are you using between DAC and CD?
Anyone found a good homebrew cable recipe?

Hi-the one i use is very special-it's mauve !

My CD player has a BNC socket for the digital out so i had to get a BNC/phono adaptor before i could get my very special cable off e-bay.

It is QED Qunex 2 balanced low level signal cable.

Never tried anything else so all i can say is it works !!!

I use a short piece of CT125 satellite cable, if terminated in phono's keep the length to no more than 20cm or go beyond 1m to say 2 or 2.5m

Thorsten came up with this some time ago, can't recall where I read it and it works! (well it did for me ;) ) it's to do with signal reflections and the point that they arrive back at the source.

Phil.

The thought of having to buy a ready made cable for the first time in years, is not good'
Yes i had seen the TNT cable. Looks a OTT for my liking and it means sourcing more bits.

Neal.

That CT125 stuff has cropped up before as as analogue I/Cs, if i remember. I think tight bends were the issue. Cheap enough to give it a try, thanks.

Al, tight bends with the air core stuff is an issue, the foil cracks underneath the sleeving and the cable kinks. There is a foam filled version available that's much better in that respect...

Ah yes that makes sense. Thanks Neal.

Also found something on the Maplin site. Under the Audio cable heading and not under coax. Seems to be made for the job, and there's a choice of two, right at the bottom of the page.
