Just swapped out a good quality, true 75R terminated co-ax cable that connects my SB3 to my DAC, with a good quality glass-fibre optical TOSlink interconnect and blimey !! It has removed a level of hash that I wasn't aware was present until it was gone and it also appears to have improved the HF response and sound-stage scale too.... Result !!!
Anyone else use optical over electrical?

It's proved that you had electrical noise causing problems, possibly a ground loop of some sort.Lee S wrote:Just swapped out a good quality, true 75R terminated co-ax cable that connects my SB3 to my DAC, with a good quality glass-fibre optical TOSlink interconnect and blimey !! Me too. But it can take a lot more effort to get it right. SB3 doesn't have output pulse transformer so as already mentioned, possibly a ground loop.
