#1 New user. Advice needed

Post by Crudge »

Hi everyone. I'm totally new to this forum stuff, but I've been recommended audio-talk by a friend as I have a question regarding a compressor I'm interested in having bult for my home studio.
Not sure if this is the right section for this, but if you could point me in the right direction that would be great!

I've come across a project for a clone of a SSL Mixbus Compressor, here is the link to the info:

Does anybody know roughly how much it would cost to build one of these?

Can't add the link as only my first post, but wondering if anyone has already made something similar?

Many thanks

Hi,

Well the PCB's seem to be available. So its just a case of working through the parts list and finding them at www.rswww.co.uk or http://www.rapidonline.com or similar and then finding a case. Add them all you and thats the cost.

or are you aking about someone building one for you?

Hi guys. Thanks for the quick replies!

@pre65 that is the link I have. What do you think?

@Nick I would indeed need someone to build it for me as well. What are your thoughts on this type of project?

Hi Paul, I have no idea what this "thing" is, let alone what one would actually use it for.

Crudge,

I'm sure if you send a pm (private message) request to NickG he will give you a price for build one. He'd be the man I'd choose to build one for me, if I was in the market that is.

I will have a run through the parts list this weekend and give you a idea as to what it would cost.

This is something like, most parts, missing a couple.

As always most of the cost if the case, I have done for a machined and printed one, plain will be half of that (ish) but will need more work to use.

Hi Nick.

Many thanks for going through that for me, really appreciate it!

Is this sort of thing something you have experience in building?

Well, its just a case of populating a PCB. Should be simple enough. Looks like the only setup is to adjust for a distortion null.

Good things. It is something I'm very interested in having built in the near future, just waiting for some invoices to come in.
So if you're up for it I'll drop you a message when everything is in place?
