as much as I can appreciate 24bit/96kHz, I am quite satisfied with 16/44, mind you, I'm over 40 years of age.
My dog, however, has asked me to stay with the higher bit rates as he can fully appreciate the extended high end. :-)

I always use dbpoweramp for most of my audio files, it seems to do the job quite adequately.
Cheers

I've just discovered how to download .Flac files and after half the night to get that 24bit/96kHz or whatever it is audiophile recording, it won't play... at all or a bit is missing off the end. So I can't convert such to a WAV hence my question.
Not all FLAC files are really FLAC files. Sometimes they are lousy MP3s disguised as lossless formats. You can check your files using tools like AuCDtect. These tools check the frequency spectrum. MP3s are usually limited to 12-15 kHz.
