#1 Earthing Question

Post by pre65 »

Hi-on "Chokeoskvi" power supply i have a star earth for each channel.

Does there have to be a connection between these "star" 0v connections and the mains earth which is on the chassis.

I have been reading MJ but cant see any info on this.

I also could not find any info on connecting chassis earth to signal 0v using an earth lift resistor.

Is this a good idea and if so what value of resistor is suggested ?

Hard to give exact answer. I would start with connecting your star earth directly to your mains earth. If you get hum, then try a lift resistor. Maybe 100R 1W, with a 0.1uf cap across to provide a path for RF to earth.
