#1 I have bought a LOT of music this year

Unread post by Ant »

I was quite surprised to find that i have bought much more music this year than usual
And that i have bought relatively little in terms of equipment, which is arse backwards compared to every other year for.. well... years.

Possibly because there is a record shop a 10 minute walk from work, and im in there at least once a week at lunchtime, but ive also bought a lot online too.

My discogs lp count has gone up by over a hundred since this time last year, a couple of albums a week have been bought and i have to say ive loved every minute of listening.

Habits have changed, i havent put the main system on very much at all, its mainly been via headphones and phone while commuting and headphones and vinyl at home, that sl150 has been spot on since it was recapped

The equipment ive bought can ne counted on one hand, the oracle tt back in January, sundara headphones, myryad headphone amp, a wiim mini for the headphone system which ive barely used, and a jds labs dac to go with it that my dad has because i wasnt using it. Thats all. I keep daydreaming about some quad era1 headphones which i might save up for.

Seems to be more enjoyable to listen to new music these days than it is to prat about with boxes now that time is something i havent got on my hands.

Who would have thought after all this time that id have gone back to the kid with the walkman with the insatiable appetite for sounds

Nowtvwrong with that! YouTube is gorgeous as a source and can be so easily reduced from mp4 to WAV for hard disk storage... I went into HMV in Telford a couple of weeks ago. Thousands of LPs ( vinyl). Expensive or just inflarton????

Hoorah, I have enough amazing albums - but I did think.

When I picked up my new music server, the previous owner left all the music on it, so I inherited around 4000 albums. I thought i had an eclectic mix of music.. but nothing like what was on this server. I tried to listen to most stuff on it - but I draw the line at brass band music and Max Bygraves. Along with Quboz - this satisfies most daily listening. However, 1970’s rock and blues stuff sounds better on vinyl.

I was going to say the previous owner had good taste.

It's probably a good thing that we have such diversity on our musical favourites.

It was bought from North of the Border - however I know that Ali has a far better taste in music than Phil. :D

ashamed to say I have bought no music this year.

I have consistently listened to radio paradise over the last year... most days... and am happy. Rp has had a bit of a face lift and William, the proprietor,
has sent me, and presumably all contacts, an email to say the main mix is cutting down on the historic content. Concentrating on newer stuff.. Yayy!

In the mean time, my 14 year old son has introduced me to the smile. I was unaware, quite interesting. Not sure whether I will buy any though.
