#1 More RTZ DAC Fun.

Post by Cressy Snr »

I’ve finally got around to making a box for the RTZ DAC I acquired from Ray, a month ago.
Our Ant is simply too busy with work to have the time to make a box for it, so I decided to cobble something together myself. Made from steel mesh, bent and bashed into shape, plus a Poundland bamboo chopping board and a bit of angle iron, it follows the style of the 6V6 amplifier. Rather industrial looking, but it has a certain charm:

The works are bolted to a steel mesh baseboard, which will be fitted from underneath:

The whole thing is roughly the same width and depth as my Musical Fidelity M1, though slightly taller.
The sig-gen is only there to provide an earthing point for my anti static wrist strap.

I’d forgotten what a cracking sound this thing produces. Totally un-fatiguing, loads of subtle details. Excellent!

Cheers Simon, I tend to use stuff I have knocking about, which often demands a bit of creativity.

How are you enjoying the RTZ DAC?
Very much Tony! The RTZ gives me the best sound I’ve had from digital. The naturalness and ease with which it gets on with the job of reproducing music is wonderful.
