I know its posting across Steve's topic, but I found the 6em7 page from 2009

https://web.archive.org/web/20090422090 ... /6EM7.html

This is the circuit we used:

Shucks I bought them for a dollar. Should have bought more.! If you read my post you can imagine my circuit was same as Garry’s, except I found the VA half of 6em7 was not consistent. When later I got my utracer I never found any that matched, wihich also had a matched power section. . I dont know if 5687’s are affordable today either, sorry. But far better sounding than 6sl7 in this situation.

Just out of idle interest Paul, how did you find the 5687 driving the larger triode (which that post of yours was talking about) compared to the far less linear smaller triode in the 6em7 that Gary used?

Much better sounding but realise I choke loaded it. As I stand today Id use my Hammond IT’s

The VA of the 6em7’s dont match eash other to get two same near impossible and some are very bad.

Inputs wired to selector switch and dropper resistors for input stage fitted. They can be seen just below the large metal cased capacitor. Voltages check out perfectly with the 5R4GY rectifier:

Amp is in the downstairs system and sounds great with the TV. I’ll try it on some music later. At the moment I’m using my JJ 6V6S and a Chinese 6SN7. I’m not going to use my best 6V6s until I’ve run the amp for a few day:

On the Kaufman circuit 30uf cathode bypass is -3db at 5 hz so a cheap polly will be fine.
