Shoddy! Like wow!

Tina Turner 'Simply the Best' on vinyl.
Saddened by the loss of such a great singer.
This album sounds really good on my new speakers

Saw her live many many years ago (around January 1980) in the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Just a few 100 people there. Was amazing. She was in a bit of limbo at that time - recently divorced from Ike and before she released her big hits later in the 80s, hence the low numbers - basically folk in the hotel and local area.

I was doing a job for Selection Trust (mining) which had just become part of BP Canada. They put me up (almost straight out of university) for weeks in this extremely smart hotel and I got to listen to Tina Turner for free. At that time she was essentially very upmarket bar entertainment.

Good times!

(*) I had been living and working on the eastern seaboard of Canada for a while at that point (St John's, Newfoundland), was single again, so Toronto wasn't a big shift.

Frank Zappa and The Mothers Of Invention - Over-nite Sensation (1973)

This album was recorded in Ike and Tina Turner's recording studio complex, and Tina and The Ikettes were hired to perform backing vocals https://www.denofgeek.com/culture/tina- ... -apple-tv/

Seal – Best 1991 – 2004

Got it on CD some years ago, but won't import or play on anything except bog-standard CD player due to copyright protection – but it was another one of those where I would cherry pick tracks off that I'd heard on radio or somewhere and liked, and thence added to one of my early music compilations...

This came up again 'cause I heard a track from it in the Malcolm Arms yesterday, not heard for yonks, so checked it out again...

Today purchased the set again as mp3 download off Amazon, comes with a few extra tracks...

Have never ever played the whole lot before (cherry picking, remember) but I have now, and cripes it's brilliant – all of it ... :D :thumbleft:

In 1970 the idea was to look and sing like Paul Rogers, and play guitar like Tony McFee.

Never got a guitar and I can’t sing for nuts but I sort of managed the look for a year or two. Fortunately no photos survive.
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Just annoying the missus with this Leo P performance from the Proms 2017. She hates "squeaky jazz."

You know those gigs where your throat is sore for 2 days afterwards?

This was one, he was superb, hit after hit after hit after hit.

So much 'plaid'!
